Weekend Plastering Courses.

This weekend plastering course teaches essential skills in plastering. You'll learn how to apply finishing plaster (skimming), board a ceiling properly, and repair damaged walls and ceilings to prepare them for painting.

During your training, feel free to ask any questions, there are no bad questions! Take your time to learn, but remember that plaster sets on its own schedule. You'll have your own room to practice and understand these setting times. The surfaces you'll plaster will resemble those in real homes, which are often uneven and not perfectly shaped. It's important to know that skimming plasterboard is very different from skimming existing plaster.

2 Day Weekend Plastering Course - Content Breakdown

Discussion and demonstrations of plasterboard and board types, and how to correctly plasterboard ceilings, including plaster boarding around RSJ`s, and fire prevention requirements.

Fixing plasterboard to timber joists, types of plasterboard fixings, cutting and shaping plasterboard, uses and purposes of scrim tape, scrim joint your plasterboard.

Discussion and demonstration on applying finish plaster to plasterboard and existing plastered ceilings, then apply a 2 coat skim finish to your newly plaster boarded ceiling, using the correct method and procedures, re-skimming, plastering over different substrates, uses of additives, primers and glues.

Mix and apply a 2 coat skim finish over existing plastered wall, finishing techniques and trowel / spatula options.

Further discussion and demonstration on how to repair damaged ceiling (holes) and / or damaged plastered walls, variations repair types, thin coat angle beads, setting techniques.

Fix damaged wall and / or ceiling using various methods, finish the plaster .
